Denali National Park and Preserve has announced plans to conduct a prescribed burn of slash piles in the park entrance area. The operation is set to take place between December 1, 2024, and January 30, 2025. The exact timing of the burn will depend on weather conditions and on-site circumstances.

This prescribed burn is part of the park’s ongoing efforts to manage the landscape and reduce the risk of uncontrolled wildfires. By burning slash piles—accumulations of branches, bark, and other forest debris—officials can safely dispose of potential fuel sources under controlled conditions.
