NOCA Fires Update

September 13, 2025by Ranger Tom0

The Perry, Arctic, and Neve Fires in the North Cascades National Park have exhibited moderate behavior over the past few days, thanks to cooler temperatures and partly cloudy skies. However, fire behavior may intensify slightly as the weather conditions are expected to become sunnier, causing fuels to dry out. The weather shift is predicted to last for the next couple of days.

In anticipation of these conditions, plans are in place to deploy a Type-3 helicopter and a Type-1 KMAX helicopter. These aircraft will provide aerial delivered water operations and firefighter support, contributing to a full suppression strategy. This action will be taken as soon as conditions and visibility permit safe operations.

Despite the temporary sunny spell, rain and cooler temperatures are forecasted to return to the area on Sunday. This change in weather will likely aid in controlling the fires and reducing their spread. The National Park Service is closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as necessary.
