The National Park Service (NPS) announced on August 15, 2025, the reopening of an eight-mile stretch of the Blue Ridge Parkway near Sparta, North Carolina. The reopening signifies the successful completion of both projects. The long-planned bridge maintenance work was essential for ensuring the safety and usability of the parkway. The recovery project, on the other hand, was necessary due to a landslide at milepost 224.9 caused by Hurricane Helene.

The Blue Ridge Parkway, one of the most scenic routes in the United States, is now fully accessible again for visitors. The NPS continues to prioritize the maintenance and preservation of the parkway, ensuring its beauty and function for future generations.
