Big Cypress National Preserve has announced a temporary trail closure, effective from Monday, June 9, 2025, due to a prescribed fire activity. However, trails on the perimeter of the unit will remain open for public use. The closure restricts all recreational activities such as the use of off-road vehicles, hiking, camping, hunting, and commercial activities in the designated areas.

The temporary closure is part of the Mullet Prescribed Fire, an initiative aimed at maintaining the health of the park’s ecosystems. The Big Cypress National Preserve urges visitors to comply with the closure for their safety and the successful completion of the fire management activity.
