The new culvert is a major infrastructure upgrade for the park, replacing the old one which had become a hindrance to the smooth flow of traffic. This replacement project was considered necessary to ensure the continued safety of park visitors and to maintain the integrity of the park’s infrastructure.

With the completion of the culvert replacement, visitors can now enjoy unrestricted access to the Cosby Area. The Great Smoky Mountains National Park continues to focus on improving its facilities to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all its visitors. The park management appreciates the patience and understanding of the public during the construction period.
