Remnants of Tropical Storm Mario closed roads in Death Valley National Park

The remnants of Tropical Storm Mario have caused significant rainfall and subsequent damage in Death Valley National Park, leading to the closure of several roads. The storm hit the park on the night of September 18, 2025. The National Park Service has since issued a warning to visitors, urging them to exercise caution and avoid the affected areas.

The roads reported as closed due to storm damage include Badwater Road, North Highway, West Side Road, Twenty Mule Team Canyon, Cottonwood – Marble Roads, Mustard Canyon, and Keane Wonder Mine Road. The extent of the damage to these roads is not yet clear. The National Park Service is working to assess the situation and will provide updates as more information becomes available.

Visitors to Death Valley National Park are urged to check the park’s official website for the latest news and updates regarding the road closures. The National Park Service has also advised visitors to plan their trips accordingly, taking into account the potential for further weather disruptions.
