Evening on the Lake: Grandview Cemetery

On Tuesday, August 26, at 7:00 p.m., the National Park Service will host the “Evening on the Lake” program at the Club House. The event will delve into the rich history of the Grandview Cemetery, including the endeavors to identify the victims of a historic flood. The program will be led by Park Ranger Elizabeth Shope.

The Grandview Cemetery is notable for its “Unknown Plot,” a special area dedicated to the unidentified victims of the Great Flood. The program will provide insights into the identification efforts for these victims, highlighting the importance of this section of the cemetery in commemorating the tragedy.

In addition to the exploration of the flood victims, the program will also shed light on some of the notable individuals interred within the cemetery. The “Evening on the Lake” program thus offers an engaging and enlightening journey into the past, connecting participants with the historical significance of the Grandview Cemetery.
