Joshua Tree National Park staff are currently responding to a fire that has broken out 3 miles Northeast of Eureka Peak. The fire, located in the Covington Flats area of the park, is currently being managed and monitored by park personnel.

The Eureka Fire, as it has been named, was first reported on May 30, 2025, with the National Park Service releasing an update at 7:00pm on the same day. The fire has prompted a response from park staff, who are working to contain the blaze and protect the park’s unique ecosystem.
