Park marks 271st anniversary of Jumonville skirmish

The National Park Service is preparing to commemorate the 271st anniversary of the Jumonville skirmish, a key event on the path to the American Revolution. The main events will take place at Jumonville Glen, the exact location of the historical encounter, on the anniversary day, May 28th, starting at 7 AM.

In addition to the main commemoration, there will also be related programs held at Fort Necessity on May 24th and 25th. These programs will provide further context and understanding of the historical significance of the Jumonville skirmish and its role in instigating the American Revolution.

More information about the anniversary events and related programs can be found on the National Park Service’s website. The Park Service encourages all interested parties to join in the observance of this pivotal moment in American history.
