The management plan aims to balance the deer population with the ecological health of these parklands. Overpopulation of deer can lead to a negative impact on vegetation and other wildlife, disrupting the natural balance of the ecosystem.

The NPS has not provided specific details about the removal operations. However, the agency has a history of using a range of strategies for managing deer populations, including relocation and fertility control. The goal is to ensure a sustainable deer population that coexists harmoniously with the environment and other species.

The Fire Island National Seashore and the William Floyd Estate are popular destinations for nature lovers, offering a diverse range of flora and fauna. The deer management program is a crucial part of maintaining the health and diversity of these natural habitats.

The NPS will continue to monitor the deer population and the overall health of the ecosystem as part of its ongoing commitment to conservation. The agency encourages visitors to respect wildlife and follow park rules to help support these conservation efforts.
