A new report by the National Park Service (NPS) reveals that parks in the Southeast Utah Group attracted nearly 2.4 million visitors in 2024. These visitors significantly contributed to the local economy by spending approximately $421.9 million in nearby communities. The spending by the visitors had a compounded benefit, boosting the local economy by $447 million.
The Southeast Utah Group, which includes national parks like Arches, Canyonlands, Hovenweep, and Natural Bridges, has always been a major tourist attraction. The recent data shows the economic importance of these parks to the surrounding communities. The revenue generated from the tourism sector helps sustain local businesses and supports jobs.
The NPS report underscores the integral role that national parks play in economic stimulation, particularly in regional areas. The Southeast Utah Group parks not only offer remarkable natural beauty and outdoor recreational opportunities, but also serve as economic engines for local economies.
