National Park Service to conduct prescribed fires

September 30, 2025by Ranger Tom0

The National Park Service (NPS) has announced plans to conduct prescribed fires at four locations within Cuyahoga Valley National Park. The controlled burns are scheduled to take place between October 1, 2025, and April 30, 2026, depending on weather and environmental conditions.

The prescribed fires will cover a total area of approximately 198 acres within the park. This process is part of a strategic approach to manage the park’s ecosystem, reduce the risk of uncontrolled wildfires, and promote the growth of native vegetation.

The NPS has assured that all prescribed fires will be conducted under strict conditions to ensure the safety of both the park and its visitors. The public is encouraged to stay informed about these planned activities by visiting the official NPS website.
