Stone Containing Dinosaur Fossil on “Dinosaur Bridge” Vandalized

Gettysburg National Military Park (NMP) staff have reported an act of vandalism on the South Confederate Avenue Bridge over Plum Run, also known as the “Dinosaur Bridge.” The incident, which occurred on Thursday, September 25, involved one of the bridge’s capstones that contains a dinosaur fossil.

The Dinosaur Bridge is renowned for its embedded dinosaur fossils, making it a significant site for both historical and paleontological interest. The vandalized capstone is one of the key features of the bridge, holding a unique appeal for visitors and scientists alike.

The NMP staff are currently investigating the incident, and the extent of the damage to the dinosaur fossil is yet to be determined. The park authorities have not released any information about potential suspects or motives behind this act of vandalism. The public is asked to cooperate and report any information that might assist in the investigation.
