Perry, Thunder, and Big Beaver Fires Update

August 31, 2025by Ranger Tom0
The National Park Service has reported an increase in fire activity on the Perry Fire, due to a combination of warm temperatures, windy conditions, and low humidity in the area. The fire, which is currently estimated to cover around 250 acres, is posing a significant threat due to the steep, difficult, and cliffy terrain of the area. This challenging landscape is limiting the ability of firefighters to directly tackle the blaze.

In response to the escalating situation, fire managers have continued to implement a full suppression strategy. This involves the use of water delivered by a Type-3 helicopter. The aerial approach is deemed necessary due to the terrain and to ensure the safety of the firefighting personnel.

The Perry Fire is one of several fires currently being managed by the National Park Service. As the situation develops, updates will be provided by the National Park Service. The public is advised to stay aware of the updates and to avoid the area for their safety.
