Cape Hatteras National Seashore announces public comment period and meeting for Dare County project to repair groin in Buxton, North Carolina

The Cape Hatteras National Seashore (Seashore) has announced a public comment period for a proposed project by Dare County to repair the southernmost groin, or jetty, in Buxton, North Carolina. The public is invited to review and share their thoughts on the project from August 27 to September 29, 2025.

In addition to the comment period, the Seashore will host a public meeting to discuss the proposed project. This meeting will take place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, from 5:30-6:30 p.m. The Seashore encourages community members to attend this meeting to learn more about the project and voice any concerns or support.

For those interested in the proposed groin repair project, further information can be found on the National Park Service website. The Seashore is keen on involving the public in the decision-making process and is looking forward to hearing community input on the project.
