The BAER Team’s process involves a thorough assessment of the affected areas to identify potential threats and risks. This includes the evaluation of soil erosion, potential flooding, and the impact on wildlife habitats and cultural resources. Post-fire impacts on these values are also being closely examined.
Once the assessment is completed, the BAER Team will prescribe treatments to mitigate the impacts of the fire. The ultimate goal of this effort is to protect the park’s resources and ensure the safety of park visitors. This initiative underscores the commitment of the DOI and the National Park Service to the preservation and protection of the country’s natural and cultural heritage.
