Heritage Hike: Staple Bend Tunnel, July 12, 2025

The National Park Service has announced a Heritage Hike to the Staple Bend Tunnel, the first railroad tunnel in America, scheduled for Saturday, July 12, 2025 at 2 p.m. The hike, which will be led by a park ranger, is free of charge, but reservations are required due to limited spots. The hike will take place regardless of the weather conditions.

The hike is approximately five miles long, promising an engaging and educational experience for participants. To make a reservation for the hike, interested individuals are asked to contact the Visitor Center directly. The Visitor Center can be reached at 814-886-6150.
