The sinkholes were discovered at the P Street NW ramp, a popular route for both locals and tourists. The NPS is currently working on a complete evaluation of the sinkholes to determine the severity of the situation and to plan the necessary corrective actions. The timeframe for this evaluation and subsequent remediation efforts is not yet known.

The closure of the P Street NW ramp will inevitably cause some disruption. However, the NPS has emphasized that the safety of the public is its primary concern. Until the sinkholes are fully assessed and the necessary repairs are made, the ramp to northbound Rock Creek and Potomac Parkway will remain closed. The NPS will provide updates as more information becomes available.
