The ban applies to all areas under the jurisdiction of the National Seashore, which covers a significant portion of North Carolina’s Outer Banks. The Seashore’s management emphasizes that the rule is in place to ensure the safety and enjoyment of all visitors, while also protecting the sensitive coastal environment.

Violators of this regulation could face penalties. The National Park Service encourages everyone to follow the rules and respect the natural beauty of Cape Hatteras National Seashore.
