First battle of French and Indian War remembered at Fort Necessity

The National Park Service is inviting the public to join them in commemorating the first battle of the French and Indian War at Fort Necessity. The event will honor and remember the soldiers who fought in the battle on July 3, 1754. The commemoration will take place on Thursday, July 3rd and Friday, July 5th, regardless of the weather conditions, except in the case of thunderstorms.

The commemorative event will feature guided fort walks and demonstrations of soldiers’ life with musket and artillery. The guided fort walks will be offered at three different times throughout the day: 10:30 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2:30 PM. These tours will provide attendees with a deeper understanding of the historic battle and the fort’s significance.

In addition to the guided walks, demonstrations of soldiers’ life with musket and artillery will be held at 11 AM, 1 PM, and 3 PM. These demonstrations will give attendees a glimpse into the life and experiences of the soldiers who fought in the battle. The event promises to be a meaningful and informative commemoration of a key event in American history.
