The National Park Service has announced that crucial maintenance work will be carried out on some of the most frequented roads in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park this coming June. This work is part of a routine maintenance program aimed at ensuring the safety and usability of park roads for the millions of visitors the park receives each year.

The maintenance work will necessitate temporary partial closures of the Little River Road, one of the park’s most popular scenic drives. Single-lane closures will also be implemented along the Spur, a key access route within the park. These closures are necessary to ensure the safety of both park staff and visitors during the maintenance period.

While these closures may cause some temporary inconvenience, they are essential for maintaining the high standard of the park’s infrastructure. The National Park Service is committed to carrying out this work as quickly and efficiently as possible to minimize disruption to park visitors. Visitors are encouraged to check the park’s website for updates on road closures and maintenance work.
