The Hagerman Fauna Site, located in Idaho, is globally recognized for its rich fossil deposits, particularly from the late Pliocene epoch. The site is famous for housing the world’s richest deposit of Hagerman Horse fossils, an extinct species that is believed to be the ancestor of today’s modern horses.

The NPS has yet to release details about the exact events that will take place to commemorate the landmark’s 50th anniversary. However, it’s anticipated that there will be a range of activities aimed at increasing public awareness about the historical and scientific significance of the site. The celebrations will also honor the efforts of those who have contributed to the study and preservation of this unique landmark over the years.
