Beginning Friday, May 23, 2025, Fort Scott National Historic Site will pilot the first-ever augmented reality (AR) experience in a national park. The innovative feature will be accessible via the National Park Service (NPS) App, allowing users to digitally reconstruct historic structures within the park. This immersive experience will provide an interactive way for visitors to explore and understand the park’s history.

The AR feature is designed to transport users back in time, offering a unique perspective on the park’s historical significance. It will allow visitors to visualize the structures as they once were, providing a deeper understanding of the site’s past. The feature will be accessible to all NPS App users, offering a new way to engage with the national park.

The Fort Scott National Historic Site is proud to be the first to pilot this innovative AR experience. This initiative represents a significant step forward in the use of technology to enhance visitor engagement and learning in national parks. The AR feature will be available on the NPS App starting May 23, 2025.
