Steamtown National Historic Site is set to transition to its summer schedule with an increase in in-park operations and experiences, beginning Saturday, May 3. The park, along with its buildings, will continue to be open to the public free of charge. The daily summer hours will be extended, opening from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition to the extended hours, the park’s Technology Museum is slated to reopen for the summer season. This will enable visitors to explore the rich history and technological developments in the railway industry, adding an educational element to their visit.
Furthermore, the park will also reintroduce its popular “Scranton Limited” yard shuttles. These short train rides offer visitors a unique experience, providing a front-row seat to the sights, sounds, and motion of a working rail yard. The shuttle rides are set within the park’s historic landscape, providing a unique fusion of nature and industrial heritage.
