April 28, 2025by Ranger Tom0

The National Park Service (NPS) has announced a multi-year rehabilitation project for the iconic Bullhead Trail in Great Smoky Mountains National Park. This initiative is a joint effort with the Friends of the Smokies, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Starting from May 5, the Bullhead Trail will be closed from Monday through Thursday each week, excluding federal holidays. This schedule will be in effect until November 6, 2025. The closure is necessary to ensure the safety of visitors and workers during the rehabilitation process.

This project represents a significant commitment to maintaining and enhancing the park’s infrastructure. Bullhead Trail, which leads to Mount LeConte, is a popular route for hikers and nature enthusiasts, offering stunning views and a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The rehabilitation will ensure the trail’s longevity and enhance the visitor experience.
