If you’re driving, the park is accessible via U.S. Highway 62/180 from both El Paso and Carlsbad. From the town of Carlsbad, a scenic drive along the Walnut Canyon Desert Drive brings you to the park’s visitor center.

The Bat Flight Program runs from late May to October, coinciding with the migration period of the Brazilian free-tailed bats. During this time, the bats take up residence in the Caverns to give birth and raise their pups.
