The mooring quays, also known as the “keys to the fleet,” are concrete structures that were used to secure battleships in the harbor. These structures have been exposed to the elements for nearly 80 years and have deteriorated over time. The restoration project is aimed at preserving these historical structures for future generations to appreciate and learn from.

The National Park Service is committed to preserving the integrity of the Pearl Harbor National Memorial and its associated structures. The restoration of the Battleship Row mooring quays is a significant step towards ensuring the continued preservation of this important historical site. It’s a nod to the past, honoring those who served during the attack on Pearl Harbor, while also providing a tangible connection to history for future visitors.
